World Club Basketball Tournament

After the successes of hosting three International Basketball tournaments during 2014 Bexhill Giants Basketball Club are proud to announce they will be hosting the inaugural World Club Basketball Tournament at the Bexhill Leisure Centre on Saturday 12th & 13th September 2015.

The tournament will be the biggest in the country this summer to feature teams from overseas.

The Basketball England endorsed tournament is open to Men’s over 18 teams, and participating teams will include teams USA Select Basketball , returning to Bexhill for their third year, Great Britain Police, USAF Lakenheath Eagles, Kampi Select of the Philippines and Hamman Sousse of Tunisia, as well other European teams from Turkey and France. The event will also be filmed as part of a documentary for national and overseas TV and social media outlets.

The tournament format will consist of two groups of five or 6 teams depending on the number of entries with the top two from each group progressing to the quarter finals, semi-finals then finals.

There will be a dunk contest, merchandise, cheerleaders and entertainment throughout the weekend and a free basketball coaching clinic for local youngsters to take part in.

Sponsored Walk

Start at Hastings Pier. Bexhill.
St Barnabas Line Dancing and Weight Loss group, Bexhill are arranging a sponsored walk on the 19th September 2015 in aid of St Mary’s Special School and 6th Form College in Wrestwood Road Bexhill.
There are two distances for participants – the longer route, starting at Hastings Pier and following the cycle and pedestrian path to Bexhill, over Galley Hill and then into Bexhill town centre finishing at St Barnabas Church (which is approx. 5 miles), and a shorter route starting at Galley Hill and walking to St Barnabas Church (approx. 1 mile). Both walks cost £3.00 to enter .

The walkers on the longer route will join up with the walkers on the shorter route so everyone will finish together.

There will be a ploughman’s lunch available at the church for £3 a person at the end of the walk for participants.
The organisers are hoping that are hoping as many people as possible will join them on the walk.

Like running but not cycling, or the other way round? Then this is the event for you. The duathlon is the ideal way to share the challenge and the achievement with a pal as well as experiencing the buzz and excitement of the event.

Taster: 2km promenade run: 10km road cycle: 5km promenade run
A great way to start yourself off in the run-cycle-run events. The distances are achievable, along a flat route and you'll be with other first-timers as well as those who are looking to improve on their PBs from previous events.

Classic: 4km promenade run: 40km road cycle: 10km promenade run
This event provides a realistic challenge for the more experienced athlete.

Swim Bike Run:
Triathlon Distances

Sprint Distance: 750m sea swim: 20km road cycle: 5km promenade run

Standard Distance: 1500m sea swim: 40km road cycle: 10km promenade run

All events are ParaTri inclusive.We welcome athletes of all abilities with inclusive categories for those with special needs and for relay teams. So come along and take part. Get your first time or aim to improve on previous performances. Whichever it is, train to achieve your goals and thus inspire others. It's also a great way to raise money for local charities.

St Mary’s Special School and 6th Form College in Wrestwood Road Bexhill are hosting their annual Charity golf day at Cooden Beach Golf Club on the 1st October 2015.
You can expect a challenging and enjoyable game of golf with a group of very lovely St Mary’s supporters, amazing competition and auction prizes up for grabs, fantastic hospitality in a picturesque location by the sea, and entertainment from some very special young people.
This year we have decided change the game slightly to keep you on your toes – we will be providing a yellow ball for double points to each team (to be used in rotation for as long as you can keep the ball!), and the best 3 scores will count for each team in the Stableford competition.
There will be coffee and bacon rolls on arrival, sandwiches at the halfway house and a 3 course dinner in the evening together with a raffle and charity auction. The cost is £67.50 per individual or £270.00 per team; discounted rates are available for members of Cooden Beach Golf Club.
