Bexhill Manor/Buckhurst Place

posted by Claire Rawlinson on 07 Oct 2006 at 8:46 pm

I am trying to find information on the exact location of Bexhill Manor or Buckhurst Place. My late Grandfather was born on the 9th Earl De la Warr's estate in 1921 and I am trying to find the exact location - so far with very little luck! We know my great grandmother was a cook/housekeeper and my great grandfather was a carter on the estate. Any information would be very much appreciated.

the manor house that i think you are refering to, is now a car park, small park area nad a muesumn, in the vacinity of the old town. if you search behill under google maps, and look for manor road and old manor close, that's where it was. i vaguley remember the manor house being there and the fire that destroyed it and i certainly remember it being turned into a small park area. i can only assume that it was taken from the old manor gardens. i used to play in the gardens as a child.

Item number: 200302594872

the above item number is a reference to the uk ebay site, which is actually for a postcard of the old manor house. it currently has 9days to run and thought it might be of interest to you. don't know who the owner of this postcard is, maybe they have more of bexhill!
