New Seafront And Shelters

posted by Mrs Mary Plucknett on 05 May 2011 at 12:28 pm

I agree entirely with the comments written about these cattle sheds (or am I being unfair to the cattle) - laughingly called 'shelters' written in last week's Bexhill Observer. I am one of the unfortuhate residents who will be looking out on to one. Already I have two beach huts to one side - gravestones to the other and now what little sea view I had left is going to be completely lost to these hideous creations. I have also been told that as a result my flat has been down valued. Why did they have to be so big and tall - they completely dominate the whole sea front and are not in keeping with the rest of the area. All the protests that were put forward just fell on deaf ears. With the amount of bad feeling over this sea front 'refurbishment' and particularly these hideous creations the present Councillors might well be seeking other jobs after the May elections. I bet if they were wsked if they would like one erected in front of their lounge windows it would be a case of 'not in my back yard'

Unfortunately this letter sent in to the Bexhill Observer was edited by the Observer and some parts deleted.

Beach Front Shelters

Used to live in this area over 24 years ago, recently visited Bexhill-on-Sea, and was quite astonished to see the new sea front wooden shelters which just look so out of place with the rest of the seafront buildings and structures. Do not quite know what the council was thinking.
