Bexhill Black Boxes

Unlike some others, I love the new-look seafront at Bexhill, but can anybody tell me what the black metal boxes are that occur at regular intervals?

I thought that these were path lighting?

Lights! They project low light to the path so that you can see the path and the garden areas as well as the side footpaths. There are also lights inbedded into the side paths off that are actually very nice at night.

I do have to disagree with Jude's post in a similar thread; where is this 'destruction'? This area was not as pleasant to walk along a few months ago (we focussed on the eastern end) but now find we walk from end to end most evenings. It seems we are not alone since we meet so many others doing exactly the same.

At least Bexhill is trying to make use of it's seafront. We come from Lancing/Worthing where the seafront has been ignored for decades and in the former is now not even truly accessible. This is a beautiful town!
