I wonder if you or your website visitors can tell me anything about a 38mm aluminium medallion that I recently acquired. The piece has the words PRETORIA DEMONSTRATION, AT BEXHILL-ON-SEA. JUNE 5TH 1900, on the reverse with the conjoined portraits of Victoria, Edward (later VII), George (later V), Edward (later VIII) on the obverse.
All the best

Pretoria Demonstration In 1900
posted by Michael on 02 Feb 2013 at 7:47 pm
During the Boer War British Troops under Lord Roberts occupied Pretoria on 5th June 1900 thus bringing to an end the Transvaal Republic of President Kruger. Demonstrations (usually parades involving school children)to celebrate the event were held in towns throughout Britain. Several towns had medals struck.
These medals are scarce and have value. This one GBP 30-60 depending on the condition.
It would be interesting to learn details about the demonstration in Bexhill.
