This message is to share a Children?s Poetry Competition I am running; in conjunction with Kim Richards, Community Project Officer; in order to promote the launch of a new countryside park; currently known as the proposed Pebsham Country Park.
The park is due to be officially launched this summer with a new and more appropriate name, and lots of exciting events are planned!
Hence the idea I had for a poetry competition ? to encourage children/young people and their parents to visit a park which is right on their doorstep!
I am sure you agree how important it is to get our children/young people out into the fresh air and into our lovely countryside, and to encourage the art of creative writing in this technological age and to see and capture the diversity of our green spaces.
The categories are; under 6 and mom?s & dad?s too! 6 - 8, 9 - 11, 12 - 15. There will be one winner and one runner up in each category - with four highly commended
The winners will be chosen at a special event to be held on September 22nd, when the top 5 poems in each category will be read by the children in front of a panel of judges.
I wanted to cover all age ranges, to get a full diversity of poetry and am very much looking forward to receiving and reading a lot of fantastic entries!
Closing date is 25th August 12
