Metal Detecting Sites Around Bexhill

posted by Jill on 09 Mar 2013 at 11:12 pm

Hi

I am relatively new to metal detecting and am interested in meeting others locally involved with metal detecting and also some tips for good local sites or landowners who are amenable to detectors on their land.

thanks

Jill

Metal Detectoring

Metal detectoring on Galley Hill is bound to get you some interesting finds. It was home to 19th and 20th century fisherman, a victorian lifeboat station, a large grand house, was once a golf course and a site of many WW2 features and events.

Hi Jill,I've been detecting for years and have several permitted sites I go to around the local area,I don't get out as often as I would like but would happily help you with any hints/tips etc.....I'm sure that one of my sites the landowner is really nice would allow you to detect on as well........you never know you may strike it lucky like I did!

Metal Detecting On The Beach

posted by Paul Trimby on 25 Nov 2013 at 12:26 am

Hi Shaun,
Yes you can detect on the beach but rules apply.
It's best if you apply for a permit.
You will find this on the Crown Foreshore site it's free, just register and your permit with individual number is good to go for a year.......
I'm a seasoned detectorist and have various permitted sites in and around, contact me if you want to meet up for an outing!

I'd like to meet up with other detectorists for outings too, perhaps a club could be formed as there doesn't seem to be one locally.

Meeting Up With Detectorists

Hi Gary,....there is a Bexhill Detecting Club but they don't seem to want to be acknowledged or publicise they are about for their own reason.....I'm FID registered and like to hunt alone but would be willing to go on a hunt with a small group once in a while.....if this is acceptable maybe it could be arranged.
Regards. Paul

Meet

Hi Paul, that'll be good, getting a bit bored of the beach now, and bullets, shrapnel, blobs of melted aluminium and other evidence of violence lol.
I only have a "beginner" type detector which I'm considering updating, do you want to meet somewhere first ?

Bexhill Metal Detecting

Hi sorry for very long delay in replying to my post about metal detecting sites around Bexhill, but thank you for your replies. I have not been out with my detector for over a year now due to recovering from a foot op. But hope to begin again this summer and still interested in finding a good site with landowner permission and maybe meeting up with other keen localish people as I am relatively inexperienced.

Hi Ian, just tried calling but got your voicemail, I would like to chat to you about detecting in Cooden Beach. Today I dropped my wedding ring in the sea, I wasn't too far out, only up to my knees, I don't know if you would be able to help, but would be great to find it! If you can drop me an email I can give you more info.

Kind Regards, Rus
