I spent 2 weeks holiday every year in Bexhill as a child and recently spent a first class night's stay in an hotel opposite the De La Warr Pavillion. I was delighted to find that Bexhill had hardly changed in 50 years, even down to the cafe where I used to spend 2/6d week's pocket money on a Knicker Bocker Glory. However, we were very disappointed to find that the De La Warr Pavillion, which used to be the hub of entertainment every evening, be it dancing on the terrace,a review in the theatre, or simply drinks etc in the bar, now closes at 6 p.m. most evenings.
