Perhaps Voting Isn't A Good Thing?

posted by Paul Minter on 09 May 2016 at 6:29 pm

After only 22% bothered voting in the Police and Crime commissioner election, we now move on to the bigger question of Europe. I'm beginning to wonder if the general public voting is a good idea. I have sat with highly educated people, who did good jobs, who inform themselves through the media on this subject and to be honest, the level of knowledge seems poor. If those who daily put in the effort to read and watch and listen to both sides seem ill informed, it seems silly everyone else voting! I'm going to be honest here, I don't think me voting on this issue has any value. All the old arguments of the struggles to get voting and people dying, don't change the fact that I haven't met a single person who seems to know enough to be allowed to vote on it. I would rather a group of well informed educated people made the decision for the country. But they will be hard to find!
