BBC Listening Project Comes To Bexhill

posted by Simon on 23 Jun 2016 at 8:42 am

Hello folks,

I’m a BBC Radio Producer and wanted to let you know that the Listening Project will be arriving in Bexhill next month and we're currently looking for people to take part. Our recording booth will be at the De La Warr Pavilion from Friday 8th July to Thursday 14th July.

I’m not sure if you are familiar with the format, but it’s a remarkable project and is a partnership between BBC Radio 4 and the British Library aiming to capture the nation in conversation. It all centres on a 30 minute conversation between two people who have a close bond - family members, partners, long term friends etc.

Each of the recorded conversations will be permanently archived by the British Library and will be used for hundreds of years to come to help with research (and also offering an incredible chance to leave a legacy for future generations of participants’ families).

A three minute piece will be edited from the 30 minutes to be aired on BBC Radio. Put simply, we’re after a picture of life in 2016 - a genuine conversation - an expression of views, opinions and natural questions between two people who know each other well.

It can be about almost anything, but the idea is that you have a chat about something you’ve always wanted to talk about but have never got around to.

Those who've already taken part have really enjoyed the experience, and are genuinely glad they got involved. You can read all about it and listen to conversations on the website here: http://www.bbc.co.uk/listeningproject

If you would to be considered for the Project – or if you would like to find out more, please do email us and we’ll send you more information: conversation@bbc.co.uk

We hope to see you soon!

Simon
