One Message At Xmas For The Whole Of Bexhill!

posted by Paul on 21 Dec 2016 at 10:30 am

Many will go to church this Christmas as their only visit of the year. We, Christians, use the Jesus story story all year round. It is only one of many myths that help us understand our lives and the world around us. You might want to give it a whirl?

I am reminded of the words of Bishop John Shelby Spong - God is not a Christian. God is not a Jew or a Muslim or a Hindu or a Buddhist. I honor my tradition. I walk in my tradition. But I don't believe my tradition defines God. It only points me to God.

May we all be more open to listen to other people's ideas about God. Not from a distance, but be prepared to get involved in traditions and meetings and festivals. In reality no one is wrong or any idea too wild.

As Dave Allen the comedian said - I'm an atheist thank God. May your God go with you.
