Can anyone tell me where the royal artillery would have been stationed in bexhill in 1830. My great grandfather was born in bexhill in 1859 and his father was serving as a gunner in the r.a. thanks.

Hi Dave - did you find out where the Barracks was located. My 2 x GGF was also RA in Bexill after returning from th Peninsular Wars iin 1814.
I don't know whether you know but if you get hold of a copy of 'Battery Records of the Royal Artillery 1716-1859 you should find the battery that was in Bexhill and can then get the Muster Rolls for the Battery froom th National Archives and (with some effort) trace you relatives service
kind regards

Hi Dave, found your message by chance. I was born and raised in Sidley. South of Bexhill hospital is Barracks Road, I think troops were stationed there during the Napoleonic wars, there were some headstones on the green area when I lived there. Hope this is helpful, I am also researching my local area. Rod.
