Moving To Bexhill

posted by Arun on 13 Sept 2019 at 7:32 pm

My wife and I are a couple of retiring doctors who have made an accepted offer on a nice apartment in Bexhill-on-Sea. We always wanted to retire to the coast and this ticks all the right boxes for us. My only slight concern is that we are both of Sough Asian origin and might encounter racial prejudice in some places. I have heard that folk in small coastal towns it can be difficult for people from our part of the World.

Why not try renting a holiday let for a month or two? Approach a few organizations that you might like to join. Nearest U3A seems to be
Hastings, Battle, Eastbourne. This should give you a sense of the type of welcome you’ll receive.

You can access the Bexhill Observer online which should give you some ideas. There are mindless yobs everywhere but the vast majority of inhabitants are pleasant, polite and friendly.
I left in the 70s but still have family living there who seem to be involved with lots of activities and organizations.
