Memories Of Bexhill

posted by Jenny Bridgeland on 05 Oct 2019 at 3:09 pm

I was born in Bexhill just postwar and lived there with my parents and 3 older sisters until leaving to train in London. My parents ,Reg and Ivy were very keen amateur actors and were well known in Bexhill players and later BLODS. We were a musical family and competed regularly at Hastings Music Festival. We lived in Willingdon Avenue, Amherst Road then Glenleigh Avenue. I attended school at Downs Infants then St Peters in Buckhurst Road and finally at Bexhill Grammar School. My sisters are Marion, Gina and Penny and we would love to hear from anyone who remembers us. We love to return to Bexhill whenever possible and between us have many happy memories of "our town". We have recently been researching family history. My father had relatives in Bexhill and Hastings and my mother was one of the Whillier family who were well known builders locally. Her aunts ran a nursing home in Cantelupe Road.
