Hello I am currently doing some family research and I am interested in any available information on Nurse Harris who ran small scale nursing homes in Bexhill from the 1920s-1960s.Full name Edith Eliza Emily Harris (1885-1966) and I would like any other information on Edith’s niece Mary Edith Harris (1916-1966) who was also a nurse and they worked together in the late 1930s.The 3 addresses I have are 37 Whickham Avenue,58 Cranston Avenue and 139 Barnhorn Road. From what I can gather Nurse Harris ran small scale nursing homes, looking after the elderly and woman in need of her Midwifery service.I did call to the Cranston Avenue address and spoke to the present owners and the present owner was actually born at that house and she was birthed by Nurse Harris in the 1940s so I imagine there are still a few people out there who were also brought into the world by Nurse Harris too?!I am also looking for information on Drusilla Burbidge and Raymond William Soane (grocer) who were relatives of hers.I am looking for this information for my Grandmothers 80 year old Cousin.I can’t locate where Edith was born but her Niece Mary was originally from Alnwick in the North East.I did send a request for any information to the Bexhill Museum but got no reply.Any search tips would be appreciated, feel free to email me directly at [REDACTED] thanks
