Hello.
I worked their initial final two years of it being a school. It closed around 1998. I worked their during the summer holidays as an English teacher, when it functioned as a summer school, for French students, who came from the Champagne-Ardenne region, run by the Lemanons. The ownership of the boarding school was Mrs Auer, who was a wealthy land owner in the Catsfield area. Her step son Jan Auer was owner and headmaster of a school, called Broomham, in Guestling which was its sister school. He took over Wilton house, in order to save it in its final couple of years (this is roughly when I was involved with both). The headteacher in those final years was Jon Shryane, who worked with me at Broomham, and then at Buckswood (which took over Broomham around 2001 - it is still there). When Wilton House closed it became a family home, but there was talk of it becoming a hotel. I lost touch with the place around 1999 and Jan, who I knew well, until around 2003, which is when I last saw him. A friend of mine, knew of my association with Jan, and told me that Jan was still in Catsfield (he was connected to the family through business, but lost contact with them 5 years ago). I hope this Fills in someblanks for you. Interestingly, my wife's ex-husband also went to Wilton House - a strange coincidence.
