Does anyone know the reason why Egerton Place is called even though Egerton Park is quite away from this site? Egerton Place is situated where John Baird of no.1 Station Road used to live but Baird Court and Helensburgh Court buildings are now on this very site.

Goodness me. I have lived here for 16 years. Never thought I would see your name come up as someone interested in Bexhill. I live not far from the park (EDGERTON PARK)I don't know why it is called that name but I can find out for you.

Hello Geoffrey,
Read the request again and realised it was for EGERTON PLACE not EDGERTON PARK. Will find out for you and let you know that is if you haven't found out already.
Hope all is well with you.
Best wishes,
Rita.

Hi Rita,
The Laing Homes built Baird & Helensburgh Courts in Upper Sea Road so I could contact them and ask for the reason why this site was called Egerton Place.
Other than this, I look forward to hearing from you once you have found some information.

Geoffrey,
I have just had a look at the LAING HOMES Website. The Baird & Helensburgh Court is now called Egerton Place. It's a stones throw from where I live. Hope that answers your question. Good luck with the project
Regards,
Rita

For the record. I am told that Egerton Place is purley a marketing name and not named for any specific reason
